D-house hands-on innovation

On the occasion of its fifth anniversary, D-house laboratorio urbano, the Innovation Hub of the Pattern Group and an international reference point for responsible innovation, celebrates its journey with “D-house hands-on innovation”, an immersive exhibition open to the public on September 8 and 9, 2025, at Spazio Lineapelle, Via Brisa 3, Milan.

The exhibition retraces five years of research, education, and experimentation across cutting-edge technologies, innovative materials, and new visions for fashion and design. A sensory and narrative experience that demonstrates how the convergence of craftsmanship and industry, digital and material worlds, can generate value and shape the future.

A journey through materials, experimentation, and the future

The exhibition is organized into three thematic sections, each focused on a key material:

Leather – In collaboration with Lineapelle and the tanneries of the Solofra district, regenerative projects and applied technologies (embossing, laser engraving, digital embroidery) transform tanning waste into design objects. The section includes the Smart Cycle project, curated by L’Officina.

Wool – With the support of The Woolmark Company, this section highlights wool as a noble and contemporary fiber capable of engaging with innovation. On display are emblematic garments from D-house collaborations with Pitti Filati, Milan Design Week, and other major events.

Synthetics – Technical materials are reimagined through design interventions and aesthetic experimentation. Collaborations with Dinamica, Eurojersey, and Framis Italia, along with the Beyond Tailoring project, reveal new expressive and functional possibilities.

Connecting all three sections are technologies such as Kornit digital printing, Stratasys 3D printing, Coloreel digital embroidery, and traditional embroidery by Studio Auriga—all key components of the projects developed within the D-house lab.

An immersive and participatory experience

Throughout the two-day event, visitors can take part in talks, experiential moments, and installations. Notably, a special interactive project by former students of D-house Academy invites the public to directly engage with the language of innovation.

D-house hands-on innovation is a unique opportunity to explore the transformative power of technologies applied to design and fashion—and to celebrate five years of vision, experimentation, and shared growth.
